Amber has only been in her position for 2 quarters, but she has really taken control of her caseload and is currently 2nd overall in the department and is often #1 for the month!
Amber’s ability to build helpful relationships with students shines, and when we have had to ask Amber to reach out to students from other trades she isn’t in charge of, she created a connection with those students to help get the placement. Mr. Rice is always referring our OA to come along with him when ever new partnerships are being conducted and the opportunity to reach out to large groups of young people or agencies that need assistance in getting more information about the Westover programs. Mr. Rice keeps the OA team in touch with community projects that will put us in touch with Youth and Agencies that can benefit from the Westover program
Safety Staff
Jonathon Tracy
Program Year 2021-2022 Second Quarter Winner!

Mr. Tracy has gone above and beyond to help keep student’s safety during these past few months. Mr. Tracy worked day and night organizing housing for students upon their returning from the holidays. He would update the Security and Safety team on a regular basis on the students’ movements throughout the dorms, while enforcing Covid protocols (wearing mask, social distancing, quarantine and Isolation within the Dorms) That’s not an easy thing to do. Great Job Mr. Tracy on your award.

Mr. Marion is always cool, calm and collected. Mr. Marion is always a head of time with all his responsibilities and is very organized. He manages all his paperwork, attendance, case notes and other responsibilities very professionally and delivers high quality data to his manger. He has had several students graduate and has more lined up to complete and get jobs with the Union in February. Despite all the challenges of COVID, his students continue to excel, make progress, and get jobs!
Academic Instructor
Barbara Urbanek
Program Year 2021-2022 Second Quarter Winner!

Ms. Urbanek has a continued track record of success, serving as our HiSet coordinator, and then stepping over to cover High School Diploma while we were searching for a new instructor. She brings years of experience to a demanding role and pushes our students to be successful for their futures by attaining that high school credential. She forges strong relationships with our testing partners in the community and is continually growing by learning new ways to make student achievement possible.
Academic Instructor
Tamar Berthiame
Program Year 2021-2022 First Quarter Winner!

Ms. Berthiaume has taken control of the IXL learning program, helping to match lessons in IXL directly with important TABE skills, and has been able to use the diagnostic arena of IXL to pinpoint areas needed for TABE gain for all academic students. In addition, Ms. Berthiaume has been instrumental in resurrecting the All-Hands Community Garden on center, tying in applied academics to a hobby of gardening. The garden has been successful in producing vegetables, fruits, and herbs for the culinary arts department. In addition, students from her classes have been working in their trade to get projects completed that benefit the garden, like a water pipe supply line for irrigation and construction of a garden shed for tools. The garden truly is a place of respite for staff and students alike to spend time with nature and observe the native butterflies and pollinators that have frequented it.

CPP / VE Staff
Celeste Perez
Program Year 2021-2022 First Quarter Winner!

Celeste plays a major role in preparing students and their parents/ supporters with current information about the Westover Center Resumption plan and virtual enrollment process. She works hard to make sure the applicants are aware of the 20 hour a week requirement for each applicant, which has assisted with retention, and Celeste plays a big part on our monthly zoom parties- answering questions and keeping applicant’s information current for contact.
She assists with deliveries of equipment, technical concerns and works with the applicant during week one to get all of their enrollment paperwork processed. Celeste has not only helped the Westover OA team with translation but also assisted our sister centers’ OA staff with translation and understanding with our bilingual population so that they can be scheduled for virtual enrollment.
Job Placement Champion of the Quarter
Robert Brown
Program Year 2021-2022 First Quarter Winner!

Mr. Brown greatly assists our students in their job placement and exit process. Robert assisted one student in procuring stable housing so that he could concentrate on his new job without the burden of struggling with housing right away. We have since received a letter from his new employer, and they are very happy with our graduate!
Safety Staff
James Whalen
Program Year 2021-2022 First Quarter Winner!

James have been a great asset to security/safety staff for the past quarter. The Security/Safety Dept. has been short staffed since the summer and even though James has a full time job, he has been here 2 nights a week and he has given up a lot of his weekends to help out. We can call him on a moment’s notice, and we can count on him to be here. He has gone above and beyond to help keep the campus safe. He has helped out with “Student Check-in days” and covers the dinner crowd too. Great On-call to have working at Westover Job Corps.
